Hi Bill,

>>>

Or the listeners recorded what God told them using the styles of narration,
metaphors, treatment of numbers common to their culture. At the risk of
arousing your ire, I would suggest reading "The Origins Solution" by Dick
Fischer, which goes into the Hebrew use of numbers to symbolize more than just
the number of years, objects, etc.<<<

I have read it. It is an interesting read. Dick is a friend of mine and I am proud to call him such. But, alas, there is not the vaguest evidence of a widespread flood in the mesopotamian valley, and  there is the laws of physics which show that there is no possible way that Adam and company could have poled a big boat upstream and uphill 3000 feet against the flow of water from a big flood, and  if Adam is a late individual, then there are those on earth descended from Adam and those who aren't and I worry greatly about people using that as a racist justification to exclude some people from the human race.

I will have to review his discussion of numbers but since he doesn't have an index, maybe he could tell me what pages that is on.

I would believe Dick were it not for the lack of evidence for his thesis (which is as lacking as is the evidence for the YEC global flood) and the laws of physics which show that 8 people don't have the energy output to move an ark upstream. If y'all want to believe that, that is y'all's  perogative.
