The Bible is for our learning. The O.T. is full of punishment and
limitations. In the N.T., we are cut free. However, we are very limited
by
the size of space. Yet, we find all these methods, light spectroscopy for
example, of making discoveries anyhow.
Faith flourishes in hard times and under persecution. The O.T.
illustrated
this and scholars have documented many cases of it in current times. The
whole Old Testament is full of 'this happened because'. Jesus died to
free
us from the law. The book of Job speaks of Satan's objections to God
protecting him and not making him prove his faith. But in Job, God didn't
cause the happenings, he allowed them to happen. I'm running up against
an
inability to find the question again.

Your statements look antinomian to me, so I hope you don't mean them that
way. If we are cut free from the Law, we can commit adultery, lie, steal,
and certainly do not have to worship God alone. While some who claim to
be Christians commit such sins (the worship of Mammon is especially
popular), they are certainly condemned in the New Testament. The death of
.our Lord frees us from the penalty of sin, the failures we recognize and
those we do not understand because we are not sufficiently in tune with
God. The Law makes us aware of sin. I note that Paul, near the end of his
life, was still pressing on, not yet what he should have been
(Philippians 3).
