RE: Professors

I listened to Mooney speak the other night in Oakton, Virginia and found
what he had to say interesting and somewhat on target. Mostly he read
his article aloud, but in the Q and A part he handled himself very well.
Whether the war on science is Republican generated or simply emanates
from the religious and uninformed regardless of party affiliation, I
can’t say. But I think there is a link in general between conservative
Christians and the Republican Party. Since it is unwise to attack
Christians directly in this country, the attack goes against a political
party where uninformed Christians tend to congregate.

I think our goal should be to educate Christians and let them find
whatever political party suits them best. But on the issue of Christian
values such as abortion, you can read the party platforms and see which
one talks about perpetuating Roe v. Wade and which one is opposed. So
the Republican Party will continue to attract Christians because of
common values and Christians can be knuckleheads – you guys in ASA
notwithstanding.

Man, nice witchhunt indeed. If you are really interested in the abuse of
science and academics I suggest you read Mooney's

Now that's truly scary
