Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.
Somehow, I see little difference between politics and vested interest.
We have enough difficulties agreeing with the faith issues on this list,
adding politics, name calling, and other unnecessary contributions
only further taints anything remaining of a pure heart.
There may be a fine line between opinion and propaganda. Almost
surely, we have all sinned at one time or another and called someone
a something, feeling in our heart well-nigh justified for doing so. But
it seems we should all redouble our efforts to restrain this kind of
language as best we can. We are not an all knowing God, we are
mortal. There can be times when we understand what the prophet
Jeremiah said in Jer 20:9. "...his word is in my heart like a fire,
a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in, indeed, I
cannot." Make sure that "fire" is the hunger and thirst for
righteousness which honors and looks to the heavenly kingdom.
One thing I observe of the two long time posters here, Burgy (a confessed
liberal) or Dick (for example basically conservative), they write their own
words
and don't regularly paste gratuitous drivel from html links. When they
do present html links, they present links to their own web sites that they
personally maintain. Vernon, a long time advocate for a certain position,
when he feels inclined to announce a new production, points out a link
to his own web site, that he maintains himself and writes himself. When
Glenn cites html links (other than his own that he wrote himself and
maintains himself), he comments on them and analyzes them.
They also tend to __discuss__ (though sometimes heatedly) their views.
I certainly don't agree with any of these people all of the time, but at
least
one thing I notice is that they do understand the bounds of civility and
make some effort to restrain themselves. They tend to refrain from cheap
name calling.
So one instance, or two, or there over some 7 years I've been on this
list is not a carte blanche to excuse calling people one or another
something. Further, if the only response to objection is to call someone
this something and point to more drivel on the html line, they certainly
heat up the red levels of my excrementum bovin filters.
by Grace alone we proceed,
Wayne
