My Girl Scout troop came across a Incan flood story when they researched
Peru for our local international fair. In it a man was warned by his llama
that the world was about to be destroyed by a flood, and told to take *one*
of each animal to the top of a mountain. The waters rose high enough to wet
the tip of the fox's tail, turning it black, which is why foxes have
black-tipped tales. The waters eventually receded, and all creatures today
are supposedly the descendents of the survivors.

Fortunately none of my Brownies asked how repopulation occured with only one
of each critter (and no wife for the man!)
