I think Debbie is right namely that one is told one thing when all evidence points towards another thing. For instance young earth creationism caused a significant crisis in my faith when I discovered how the many claims by YECers were plainly wrong.
If we teach our children that evolution is wrong and yet all science points to this fact then we are setting up our children (unnecessarily) for a crisis of faith.
