A number of authors have advanced this date. Frankly, it is the most
widely accepted date by many writers who have written on the subject.
ASAer, Davis Young, did a good book on the Genesis flood. (Davis A.
Young, The Biblical Flood: A Case Study of the Church's Response to
Extrabiblical Evidence. Carlisle: The Paternoster Press, 1995). Also, a
culture shift is noted beginning 2900 BC with the start of the
Predynastic Period in Mesopotamian history.
Absent any better information to give us reason to shift the date to
some other figure, I would go with that. Unless, you have better data .
