I'm wondering if anyone could recommend a current college-level text that
could serve as a primer on the current state of evolutionary theory? Thanks.
David Buss just put out a handbook on evolutionary psychology which is
getting a lot of airing on the evolutionary psychology list on yahoogroups. I
haven't seen it myself, but the recent book by D.S. Wilson (evolutionary biologist)
on the adaptive nature of religion and the books by the evolutionary
psychologist Kevin MacDonald on the evolutionary strategy of Judaism make it relevant
for scholars/teachers interested in the evolution of religion and for those
interested in human evolution rather than for example, the Cambrian explosion,
though you would have to judge the appropriateness of the book for your students.
