Data non grata?

Hi Janice,

I was somewhat dismayed by a comment made in your posting of 12 Dec last (http://www.calvin.edu/archive/asa/200512/0172.html) in which my name had cropped up in your response to George. Referring to my interest in certain aspects of the J-C Scriptures, you spoke of "...his UNorthodox numerology ideas, which I in no way agree with." In voicing this opinion, you clearly imply that you have examined the evidence I have to offer - and have found it wanting. I am somewhat mystified by this for I have no interest other than in hard fact. Are you really saying that, for you, empirical data comes in two varieties, viz 'acceptable' and 'unacceptable'? I would greatly appreciate a considered explanation.

I have already referred to what I perceive as a general psychological problem with respect to the acceptance of the validity of these data - and, particularly, of the logical inferences that inevitably arise therefrom. It would appear that the revealing of one phenomenon has stimulated the unwelcome attentions of another!

Regards,

Vernon
