To avoid paying overtime (suggested in a Frank and Ernest cartoon).

In that climate, stopping the sun through unseasonable cloudiness would
be helpful to not get tired out while fighting. Europeans and North
Americans usually think of sunny as good weather, which could prejudice
translation.

Perhaps more important than establishing the exact physical nature of
the event is making it clear the motive. It's critical to distinguish
between denying the possibility of miracles and trying to explain them
away versus recognizing God's role and asking questions about His
method.
