Unless one clearly indicates what evolution is and is not, then it is quite possible that the theory of evolution becomes an ism that conflicts with other isms.

No, that's not fair. Science doesn't deserve the blame when ignorant Christians think the Bible, properly read, precludes evolution. That would be like blaming the movement of the planets because it violates the notion of geocentrism construed from certain passages of Scripture. If you want to lay blame, put it on those who contend through their ignorance that the Bible is at odds with the findings of science, to wit: the Bible thumpers.
