Christian Engineers and Scientists in Technology

This is Ruth writing under Keith's account, b/c I don't subscribe to
the asa list:

A few recent posts prompt me to remind the ASA membership in general,
and those on this list in particular, that ASA includes an affiliation
specifically for engineers: CEST, or the Affiliation of Christians and
Engineers in Technology. Membership is open to anyone subscribing to
ASA's statement of faith and interested in CEST's goals, which are
primarily to assist members through fellowship in pursuing their
calling in technology fields and to assist others outside the
technology fields in understanding how technology impacts God's
creation (including us) and how it may be directed to beneficial or
harmful means.

While CEST is not extremely visible, we have sponsored symposia at ASA
meetings, and this year's meeting at Messiah in August is focussed on
CEST topics, with many CEST members presenting. We also share a large
but very quiet listserv with the Christian Engineering Society (CES), a
group of (mostly) engineering faculty at Christian colleges across the
country. The listserv is hosted by Calvin College and maintained by
Steve VanderLeest,

If you are interested in expanding ASA's visibility in the area of
technology and its applications, please feel free to jump into CEST and
get busy. Our generally low profile is due mainly to a lack of time,
not lack of interest, and we'd be delighted to see others get involved.
