I'm kind of partial to the definition of science given by John Zimon:
"Science is the search for the widest possible consensus among competent
researchers."

Subject: definition of science
Hi All,
This is a fishing expedition - at some point in the past, some individuals on this list have given definitions of "science" that I thought were pretty good. But now when I'm trying to find a good one, I can't, and I also can't remember who wrote the definitions I liked so that I could email them personally. So, if anyone out there has a definition of science they really like, please feel free to send it my way.
Thanks,
Charles
