Which themselves are not overly reliable in detail. The article that Vernon quoted claimed that this was the first non-bone material for dinosaurs, ignoring footprints, skin impressions, coprolites, integument structures, etc.

Not that selective quoting and misrepresentation can't be done using the primary literature, but dealing with the primary literature and the physical evidence as a whole is necessary to developing a valid sceintific model. Seizing on random items in the popular news won't do.
