I would I could explain the difference between "time" and "eternity". I
can't, but I am convinced that eternity is not extended time. Now that we
just celebrated Christ's resurrection, it is clear that Christ's
resurrected body was not like ours, even though He still had holes in His
hands. Jesus could disappear and appear at will, and locked doors did not
hold Him in a room.
A lot of speculation is going on about what happens when we die, but
nowhere do we read that we go to heaven. We do read that we will be
resurrected and then meet Christ in the air: see 1 Thess.4:16, and then
those of us who are still alive will join them to meet Christ "in the air."
