You are unfortunately right. I recall an article in /Creation Research
Society Journal/ some time back arguing that, because the count of rings
in bristlecone pines gave dates beyond 6000 years, used to correct C-14
dating, there must have been double rings produced some years. Since the
tree-ring count has been extended considerably more recently, there must
have been three rings most years. To phrase it differently, ALL the
evidence supports the Creationist position--though only true believers
see it.
