The YECs have won.
The time for action is past. Now is the time only for senseless
bickering.
Notes on Acts and facts, Vol 34, No. 3 (March 2005).
A long article on the Mt. St. Helens 25th anniversary conference by Mark
Rasche leads off this issue. The evidence for a young earth is
overwhelming. Rapid sedimentation, fossilization and coalification
occurred in only a few years, producing an appearance of great age.
The conference will be held May 20-21 in Longview, Washington.”...
scientific evidence which harmonizes with Scripture.... .”
Second article: “... they recognize that the spontaneous generation of
life is 'impossible,' and has been disproved, yet they still believe it.”
So much for the TE proponents.
Third article: The RATE documentary -- “Thousands, not Billions” is the
proposed title, It will be evidence for the Christian when so-called
“science facts” collide with the truth of Scripture. There is no greater
threat to the truth of Scripture than the nonsensical claim that the
earth is billions of years old. The film is nearly ready. The RATE
conference will take place November 5, 2005 in El Cajon, CA.. The YEC
victory is at hand.
Forth article: hundreds of donors have provided the remaining funds to
complete RATE in all respects. 2005 will mark the completion. Over
$1,000,000 of the Lord's money have been wisely invested. Three products
will be available in November for purchase and witnessing, a technical
book, a lay version book and a video documentary.
New research will be undertaken after RATE is finished. Dr John
Baumgardner has designed a new computer (named Epiphany) donations
towards its building are solicited.
Impact #381 discusses the recent rapid uplift of today's mountains. There
is a great lack of agreement between field observations and
uniformitarian theories. Theorists tend tend to ignore observational
reports .The recent book (2000) THE ORIGIN OF MOUNTAINS, by Ollier and
Pain, repeatedly observes how the evidence fails to match theory. The
Bible, on the other hand, is in harmony with the observations. The case
for the Flood is compelling .Laboratory experiments on the
stress-weakening tendency of silicates (as much as 10 orders of magnitude
in earth size mantles) confirm these theories.
The Back to Genesis article, by Henry Morris, is on “The Ultimate proof
of Christianity.” It is an evangelistic tract focusing on the
resurrection of Jesus, making the usual logical mistake, arguing that
since the resurrection has not been DISPROVED, it must, therefore, be
PROVEN. Morris has many wonderful words in this tract, but his conclusion
is the classic case of overstatement: “...the solid, historical evidence
of his bodily resurrection ... is itself absolute and impregnable.”
Again, the time of action is past. The YECs have won. Now there is only
time for recriminations and gnashing of teeth.
