There is nothing irrational about it. The NYC school system has always been ultra liberal and is anti-Christian for obvious reasons. Consider, there is virtually no Islamic political presence in NYC. That leaves one other religious group to be responsible for the anti-Christian animus that allows menorahs and crescents and not creches. How much of a pattern has to be established before it is recognized?
The Hebrew Bible is explicit in this regard:
"No: you shall demolish their altars, smash their sacred pillars and cut down their sacred poles.”
Do you think religious Jews read the Torah as faithfully as Christians read the NT? Perhaps even more so...
