Is there a difference between "atheistic materialism" and
Christian materialism? I think the word you are actually
looking for is "scientism".

Yet this is exactly what makes
the so-called "scientific" creationism look so ridiculous
and why Christians who preach it compromise the gospel.
Not only is their science bad, but they refuse to admit
that they have problems with their position, they accuse
those of us who disagree with them of being liers, heretics,
and compromisers, and they don't correct themselves when
challenged with serious errors. And when all else fails,
they turn to politics.

We eventually treat scientists who behave like ideologues
with disdain, but they are not proclaiming the Gospel,
only their own whacked out ideas. Christians who act this
way mock Christ, and set a poor example to others of the
true virtues of the Christian faith and being a Christian:
honesty, perseverance, long suffering, obedience, respect
of authority, leadership, courage to stand up for the truth
and resist evil and deception.

I grant that pride is at the heart of scientism, and to
the unwary, it has a powerful lure. But with such a poor
examples of unbecoming behavior for a Christian, should
it be any wonder that atheists sit back and laugh and
draw in the crowds of worshipers?

by Grace alone we proceed,
