Having done some checking with friends who are close to Sternberg, it
appears that the WSJ article is true.
I put a blog on Panda's thumb last fall, warning them about an appropriate
comparison between Sternberg and Galileo if they persecuted the editor for
publishing a paper that had been supported by some reviewers and editors; it
has come true with a vengeance. I reminded panda's thumb of this a few
moments ago. They are frankly cheering that Sternberg had this
coming--there is an ideological war out there, as much as we might try to
avoid it, and there are people who hate religion in all guises and will use
it to weed us out.
If anyone here has influence with the Smithsonian, perhaps this would be a
good time to make a few calls. Their behavior has been outrageous.
