That statement was undoubtedly made prior to access to newer information
from the chaos/complexity domain. Those insights allow one to consider
that a creator could possibly front-load the rules and initial
conditions of Creation in such a way that it would subsequently proceed
on a course that, while otherwise unguided and full of contingencies,
might still realize the full end objectives of the Creator. That said, I
am pretty sure that lack of awareness probably dominates in our own time
as well. It certainly is rejected by our more conservative bretheren. In
that regard, it's probably safe to say that most of the Christian
community, conservative or not, is completely unaware of these
perspectives, discussed by Howard van Till and others. The enabling
conversations just do not happen most places.
