Yes and no - the GA people were proposing to change
the standards by accepting the AAAS project 2061
benchmarks - but excising the word "evolution" AND
other words and sometimes entire points, such as
reference to the "long history" of the earth, which was
changed to the "history" of the earth. So they did a
little bit more than find and replace "evolution". The
publicity coup was that they made it appear that excising
the "e-word" is all they did. See for more information:
