One of the things I have always said in the realm of energy is that we need
to solve the fusion problem in order to avoid the problems I have spoken of
on my web pages on oil http://home.entouch.net/dmd/oilcrisis.htm. I just
saw an article in Science News reporting on a Physical Review E article by a
US-Russian team. These guys claim that they have been able to detect gamma
rays and tritium coming from bubble implosions in acetone. While there are
lots of critics, the last quotation in the article says:
"On the other hand, Lawrence A. Crum of the University of Washington in
Seattle, who panned the Science paper in 2002, says he's no longer such a
doubter. 'I wouldn't want to be quoted saying this is right,' he says, 'but
[the claim] is more and more difficult to ignore.'" Science News March 6,
2004, p. 149
Do any of the physicists here know anything about this work?
