George (and everyone else who has replied -- Burgy, Michael, et. al.),

Thanks so much participating in this discussion. I've been forwarding
your responses to my colleague who is really enjoying them. This issue
has been a tricky one for me, and your responses have helped me to see
that, like creation & evolution, scriptural eschatology and physical
reality aren't inherently contradictory.

Please keep up the good work all!
