Dawkins is not being consistent within his atheism. If religion is to be treated as an evolutionary product, it should be treated as any other evolutionary product and evaluated based on its success in populations. Dawkins claims that all human behaviors are evolutionary products and cannot consistently dismiss religion as a parasite because it is an evolutionary byproduct while endorsing culture as an evolutionary byproduct. His indiscriminate attack on religion is not particularly different from indiscriminate young-earth attacks on evolution; both discredit the viewpoint being defended.
