I think that Dick's article seeks to expose the ways in which present-day
YEC is inconsistent with Scripture. This is a very important point to get
    across.

For a book to accomplish this, it is important to have authors who are
credible to the targeted audience. This means that they should have a
"high view of Scripture". Ideally they would be theologians whom the
readers already trust on other issues. They should not be people already
demonized by the ICR. The ASA's Lay Education Project was very sensitive
to such considerations so that the ASALEP material would not be rejected
outright by people when they saw the names of the authors. It would also
be wise in refuting YEC interpretations to avoid the temptation to push
too hard for an alternative interpretation that is only one of several
found among those who reject YEC.
