I have a good friend, a surgeon, well read, articulate, and in every way
except religion a role model. But he took exactly that path, and now his
worldview is such that he very literally cannot re-engage the Christian
worldview even to understand it. Even Tillich, to him, seems like no more
    than a polite Jerry Falwell.
