I love Texas. Lived there 20 years. Eight of my eight children call it
home.
But it is challenging certain other states for being the most flaky.
Here is what is happening:
Beginning September 1, public schools each day will hold a minute of
silence -- for meditation, reflection, or prayer
-- AND the pledges to the flags of Texas and the United States. See

What is this pledge?
First of all, a Texas flag must be present in every classroom. The pledge
has 13 words:
"Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one and
indivisible."
I don't know if my grandchildren are reciting these words. I hope not.
But I can just see it coming down to the county level, then the city
level, then the school level, then the classroom level.
"Honor the class flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, my 4th grade class,
one and indivisible."

Why stop there? In the end,
"Honor my flag; I pledge allegiance to me, myself, one and indivisible."
