Yes, I was indeed offering questions to stimulate fruitful conversation on
the list. At the same time I do wonder about the role played by conservative
religion's tendency to give yesterday's answers to today's questions.
Thanks for the reminder of George Marsden's work. His scholarship is
exemplary.
