I resemble that remark.
The musical analogy is good. I take comfort knowing that though I may not be perfectly in tune, at least I'm strung (slack strings play no music). Of course, an over-strung instrument could drive everyone from the theatre.
Another metaphor I like is from the kitchen. A spoon is a lousy knife, and its hard to eat soup with a fork. These are metaphors for the Geometry of Intellect: some people have broad and wide intellects that can scoop up most anything but cut through little while others have a very sharp narrow edge that a sugeon would delight in. And then there's those pointy forks .... :-)
FYI - I'll be leaving tomorrow to go to a mountain cabin with my family for a four day retreat from computers and list-servers. Perhaps the Master Tuner will adjust things a little before I come back. I'm sure he's aware of the need, he's probably just been waiting for a pause in the music.
