George's final stanza is worth framing:
Indeed, God does play dice with the universe.
But we all know that,
In the end, the House always wins.
In this spirit I offer something I wrote 18 years ago in grad school when I was working on my PhD in Quantum Physics, which, alas, was never finished largely due to the topic I chose, namely the Problem of Irreversibility in Quantum Mechanics. The poem should be read as a hip hop rap:
The Quantum Mechanic's Rap
Hey there brother, don't you panic!
Don't you know I'm a Quantum Mechanic?
Now if Heisenberg Uncertainty is getting to you,
Let me tell you what I will do.
I'll rotate your vector in Hilbert Space,
Until you come to an eigen-state.
There you'll sit, just as happy as can be,
Oscillating like omega 'T'.
And then one thing you'll know for sure,
Your energy value's got no blur.
But if I ask about X or P,
All I get is probability!
So though you think you know you condition,
All I see is superposition.
Now if all this jive has made you panic,
Why don't you be the Quantum Mechanic?
And then this rap can be said by you,
And I'll be the one to be split in twooooooooo........
