I agree with Jon and everyone else on the list who has expressed this
opinion. When I joined the list in late February, I was delighted with the
variety and thoughtfulness of the postings and the respectful way that those
contributing spoke to one another. During the past month or so, however, we
have had a plethora of postings by a few people that constitute perfect
specimens of immature and unchristian behavior, more in the nature of
childish spats over pet obsessions than thoughtful arguments or perspectives
on issues. Persons like myself who have suggested that some of these
arguments be carried on off-line, or who have complained about the tone and
language of the messages, have been subjected to mean-spirited attacks
filled with insulting language by some who wrap themselves in the banner of
"Christianity" but ignore all of the NT advice "to be kindly affectionate
one to another."
After filing formal complaints with Terry, I have blocked these particular
messengers, and I intend to stay on the list, but I urge others who are
tempted to pull the plug to stick it out at least until Terry returns from
his vacation. Do ask him to pull the plug on those who are running amok and
making a mockery of the list.
