    David,

You wrote: I do not know that it really matters when Adam existed.

The reason I believe this subject matter is important is that I believe the
Bible contains a chronological historical record which shows that exactly
4,000 years passed between the creation of Adam and the birth of Christ. I
believe that all the 4s 40s and 400s in the Bible were there by God to act as
"symbolic shorthand" for the number 4,000 - the number of years which passed
between the creation of Adam and the birth of Christ. I believe these
numbers, which are so prominently used in scripture, and this 4,000 year
chronology, which also is a large part of the Bible, can become a very
effective instrument in helping bring people to Christ. For together they can
be used in a very unique and powerful way to confirm the fact that Jesus of
Nazareth was indeed the promised Messiah. For they identify Jesus as the
Christ by clearly pointing to the year of His birth.

I believe this confirmation becomes even more convincing when doubters are
made aware that the same numbers, 4, 40 and 400, which fill the scriptures in
order to identify Jesus as the Christ by pointing to the time of His birth,
also fill "the sun, moon and stars" for the same purpose. For instance, are
you aware of the fact that our The sun's diameter is exactly 400 X the size
of the moon's diameter. ( "864,000 mi." vs. "2,160 mi." according to the 1998
edition of The World Almanac, pages 290 and 291, or "1,400,000 km." vs. "3500
km." according to NASA's Geometry of the Solar System @
    http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/SEhelp/SEgeometry.html ) But remember,
it makes no difference whether you measure their diameters in miles,
kilometers or toothpicks. This 400 X ratio will always be the same.

More on this later if you are interested.

    Mike
