Andrew,
I deeply sympathize with your situation. You want to recognize the hand
of God in all things, which is appropriate for a Christian. However, your
research is not different as a Christian than it would be as an atheist.
In the application of the research, Christian compassion may play a major
part, but I don't think you are in that mode at the moment. So you may
properly, as a Christian, make your report without an overtly religious
comment.
There is another side that I think of. Years ago a professor was saying
that Moses could not have written the Pentateuch because there was no
writing at the time. However, I knew that Flinders Petrie, close to the
turn of the century, had recorded Semitic script by slaves working
turquoise mines in the Sinai before the probable date of Moses. I told
him that. I don't think he every forgave me. I got my degree in a
different school. When you get tenure, say what you please. But there is
wisdom in sometimes keeping silent on the way, even though biting your
tongue hurts.
I wish you the very best as you seek to honor the Lord. You can do that
best now, I think, by doing your work well.
