>>The purpose of the ASA seems to be much broader than necessarily taking
a
position either way. From its Statement of faith, "As an organization,
the
ASA does not take a position when there is honest disagreement between
Christians on an issue." Is ASA's sole purpose disputing YECism as a
counterpart to the YEC sites?

That's a fair criticism. Obviously that's not ASA's sole purpose, or even
necessarily a "purpose" at all. But it IS ASA's purpose to see that the
relevant data and arguments get out to the Christian community. Including
YEC data and arguments, if such exist (I think they do not, but I'll
listen to anything new).
And it is this latter purpose that I see we are not achieving.
