Vince,
Not necessarily. For example, the floating axe head does not have an impact
on a YEC or OEC view. However, as you may have seen from the correspondence
on this forum, a literal interpretation of many of these Biblical records
causes considerable problems in integrating them with geological records.
For example, where to place Adam and Eve in time has generated a lot of
debate, as has the placing of the Flood in time and space.
My point was not to come up with a list of "problem areas" but to contrast
the literal interpretation of the Bible through which the gospel was brought
to many of us in our youths to our current understanding. My comment was
made in response of John Burgeson who questioned the amount of traffic a
YEC-based web page is claiming.
Interestingly, recently there was an article in The Banner, the official
publication of the Christian Reformed Church that suggested that much in the
Bible could be (should be) read as "literature" and not as non fiction.
Yet, my guess is that many of us learned to read to Bible as non fiction.
Shalom!

Are you saying that one has to abandon all these views to have a OEC
viewpoint?
