I think part of Glenn's point, in the discussion with Paul, is that the truth rather than the attractiveness of a deity is more important. We can get general agreement that the God of the Bible has much more appeal as a good option than Huitzlipochtli. In addition to the relative ease of spelling, the latter required daily human sacrifice by cutting out the victim's heart. However, if he exists and the God of the Bible is just a nice idea, then we need to act accordingly.
In this case, the fact that the sun has continued to rise despite the cessation of sacrifices at the time of the Spanish conquest of Mexico suggests that the human sacrifices are unnecessary. YHWH does a much better job of maintaining a believing remnant than most competitors.
