    I very much doubt whether I could convince any reasonable person that
    either of these was interesting - even if I had to! On the other hand,
    666 is worthy of a sermon - for consider:

    (1) it is the sum of the first 36 natural numbers, 1+2+3+...+35+36;
    thus, expressed as a compact arrangement of uniform circular counters,
    it may appear as an equilateral triangle of side 36 units; 36 is the sum
    of the first 8 natural numbers - hence triangular;

    (2) the outline of the 666 triangle comprises 105 counters; 105 is the
    sum of the first 14 natural numbers - hence triangular;

    (3) a triangle possesses 3 sides and 3 internal angles; 3 is the sum of
    the first 2 natural numbers - hence triangular;

    (4) written symbolically in the usual way (ie as a denary, decimal, or
    base 10 number), '666' has an interesting visual symmetrical form which
    involves writing the digit '6' three times; 6 is 1+2+3 (and therefore
    triangular), but it is also 1x2x3 - and therefore a perfect number (the
    first of a sparse infinite series);

    (5) within the symbol '666' we see '66'; 66 is the sum of the first 11
    natural numbers - hence triangular.

    Now these are all self-evident facts which combine to raise the status
    of the numerical component of Rev.13:18 to the skies! 666 - like many
    other numbers, is triangular - but its triangularity is unique in that
    all its attributes are also triangular.

    (6) 666 is the first triangular multiple of 37 (666 = 18x37); the second
    and third triangular multiples of 37 are 703 and 2701, ie Gen.1:1 "and
    the earth." and "In the beginning God created the heaven and the
    earth.", respectively;

    (7) both 'Jesus' and 'Christ' - as rendered in NT (and Septuagint)
    Greek, nominative case, are multiples of 37;

    (8) the Hebrew names of the 12 tribes inscribed on the breastplate of
    the high priest (Ex.28:15 - 21) total 3700 - a multiple of 37;

    (9) returning to Gen.1:1, the sum of the first 5 (of 7) words is 1998,
    or 3x666; this divides into 2x999 without infringing word boundaries (ie
    words 1+3 = words 2+4+5 = 999 = 27x37);

    (10) in the NT, 666 is one of 3 pure numbers which are linked by the
    theme 'out of the sea'; the other two are 153 (Jn.21:11) and 276
    (Acts:27:37);

    (11) in close proximity to 666, we find 1260 (Rev.12:6); both numbers
    are shown to be linked via the metric dimensions of a 1950's artefact -
    the A4 sheet of cut paper.

    The foregoing matters are further elaborated at

    Gordon, such features as 666 possesses are truly interesting, wouldn't
    you agree? You will, no doubt, note that the foregoing catalogue makes
    no mention of the unique nature, per se, of 37 - factor of 666,... etc.

    Regards,

    Vernon
