Thanks to Glenn and Chis for their discussion, information, and explanation
of these relationships. For those of us who teach introductory geology
classes where questions such as "How do you know?" rightfully come up every
semester such tidbits are priceless. It shows they students there is much
more to these questions than the simple assertions they have heard or read
in a $5 book, on the other hand I sure don't want them to ever stop asking
"How do you know?" . I am not sure anyone else in the group cares or has a
need to know so you may respond off list if you wish but I would like to see
the equations which relate the speed of light to Plank's constant and the
"fundamental coupling constant of the weak and strong nuclear forces", and
if possible a brief explanation of what a "fundamental coupling constant"
is.
