Ken Smith recently (a month ago!) wrote, concerning his nearby Christian
radio station's co-sponsorship of Ken Ham's visit, how he found "the
station's endorsement of Ham upsetting." Also, he mentioned "an article by
Ken Ham in which he attacks Hugh Ross." He asked us to contact him if we
"know of other materials which show Ham attacking evangelical Christians."
Well...I've been a subscriber to this list for a few months now, and I've
seen glimpses of ASAers attacking evangelical Christians who held Young
Earth positions and who espoused such positions in public forums. Perhaps
such attacks were in response to like attacks by the YERs. I have also
heard Mr. Ham (while he was still with ICR) speak, and am aware of his (as
well as Dr. Gish's) zeal in promoting the Young Earth creationist viewpoint
in public forums.
I guess the point I'm trying to make is that it goes both ways. It might be
that both YECs and OECs are equally remiss in 'overstepping' the bounds of
'gentlemanly' debate and may, perhaps inadvertently, come across as
attacking people holding the opposite viewpoint. I wrote a couple/three
months ago how this is evidence of the success of the Enemy's strategy in
dividing evangelical Christians and the Church at large.
If Ken Ham, or anyone for that matter, whether YECs or OECs, is seen
attacking the =person= of someone holding a viewpoint opposite to theirs,
then someone in the audience, or the person debating them, should rebuke
them in public! If it occurs in a discussion group such as this one or one
similar, the same should take place. "Our battle is not with flesh and
blood but with principalities and powers..."

P.S. Sorry I'm so late in responding, but I was out of town and I was two
weeks behind in reading my e-mail; then, I could not send outgoing mail for
many days. Hope this goes out. It is Sunday 18 Feb 1996.
