    Tenure Track Position in Organic Chemistry Point Loma Nazarene University  San Diego CA

    The Department of Chemistry at Point Loma Nazarene University is seeking candidates for a full-time tenure-track Organic Chemistry teaching positions. Responsibilities begin mid-August 2008.  Applicants must be capable of excellent teaching and committed to building and sustaining a vigorous undergraduate research program.   Candidates of all ranks will be considered.

    Responsibilities:  
    Teach undergraduate courses that include organic chemistry courses and labs, along with general education and service courses. 
    Supervise student research projects.
    Participate in departmental activities, serve on faculty committees, and perform other normal faculty duties.

    Qualifications:   Education: Ph.D. required.   Experience:  Evidence of a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and research.  Postdoctoral work and undergraduate teaching experience are desirable.  Philosophy: Thorough commitment to the concept of Christian liberal arts education.  Desire to work in an evangelical institution in the Wesleyan tradition, and support the religious and educational goals of the university   Personal:  Evidence of Christian commitment.

    Other Information: The Department of Chemistry offers BS degrees in Chemistry and Biology/Chemistry.  The department has five full-time faculty members, a strong commitment to quality teaching, and a forty-year tradition of undergraduate research.  Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
