Rocky Mountain Local Section Meeting - Where Is Technology Taking Us?

The 2008 meeting of the Rocky Mountain local section of the American Scientific Affiliation will be held on Saturday, February 23 in the Lory Student Center on the campus of Colorado State University in Fort Collins, beginning at 9 AM (registration starts at 8:30).
 
The theme of this year's meeting will be "Where is Technology Taking Us?"  Our two plenary speakers will be Dr. Jack Swearengen (author of the new book Beyond Paradise: Technology and the Kingdom of God) and Prof. Edwin Chong from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at CSU.  We will also have breakout sessions at lunchtime devoted to considering the following specific areas of technology from a Christian perspective:
  • energy
  • food and water
  • cell phones, iPods, the internet
  • weapons and defense
  • technology and climate change
  • medical technology and ethics 
The cost will be $10 which you can pay in advance or at the door.  The event is free for students.  Lunch will be available (at your own expense) at the Student Center.
