Thanks for the references from Denton's first book. It seems that my memory
of the book's thesis may have been inaccurate.

If Denton really intended to argue in his first book, not only against the
Darwinian gradualist dependence on random mutations and natural selection,
but also against the broad concept of the common ancestry thesis, then his
new book represents a radical change of perspective.
