I'm sure you'd agree, Glenn, that if I rewrote the above to
say "I think it fits the facts better" you'd not have a problem.

The argument you make is a strong one. I'm not sure, however, it carries
the day.
At least not for me.

I picture God (and His agents) operating over time, "tweaking" the
existing
organisms and environments, in so doing creating novelties. Much the
same as, though on a grander scale, as a 12 year old making a model
railroad layout.
