Dear Glenn,

Look , I hate to burst your bubble but big science does work on
authority. I know this is isn't supposed to be the case -- and that this
fact flies in the face of what we all learned in General Biology 101 or
Philosophy 101 -- but the truth is that no one has the time or
inclination to rehash or dubunk arguments from the unwashed. Most are
simply time-consuming byzantine exercises into detecting erroneous data
or conclusions.

True, every once in a century or two, an amateur scientist does come up
with a new approach or idea worthy of an expenditure of time and money.
Your posts do not, I'm sorry to say, meet that test.

Your B.S. in physics has given you a fundamental grasp of science. Alas,
your critical thinking is no better than a raw graduate student. In
looking over your posts I do see many facts -- but the conclusions you
derive from them are often not justified. More worrying -- two of your
citations did not check out and a third was referenced out of context.

In essence, get a life. Better still get some serious graduate
education. Until then, all you have are arguments worthy of the Art Bell
show (perhaps you can follow Hovin, et al.), a laughably broad and
byzantine web site, or pamphlets that can be sold at the local Baptist
Church.

Frankly, your responses too often border on the those from someone with
a psychiatric disorder (Art Bell's stock and trade).

Be happy you caught me in a minor error -- quickly acknowledged and soon
corrected. I'm sure you'll tell the story to your grandchildren. The
truth is one should never type quickly from memory regarding things
outside his specialty.

My wife agrees. :)

Frankly, after more than 20 years teaching in and around the Ivy League
and fighting bitter battles with political types like Lerner (a fine
research potential and mind lost to the teaching & policy - philosophy
underworld) on "science policy." I don't give a damn what the unwashed
think. All I ask is that they sell their widgets, pay their taxes (so I
can get my grant money) and stay out of educational policy.

The bottom line is that the Eve hypothesis ranks right up there with the
Bible Code -- and literalist interpretations of scripture.

A final cheers,
RLT

P.S. My undergraduate degree was also in Physics. I think we're the
brightest too :)
