Jim: Then we are talking at cross-purposes. I have ALWAYS discussed the
philosophical implications of materialism vis-a-vis evolution and morality
in
this context. You are concerned with the narrow question of the science of
evolution.

What else is there than the science of evolution ? Abuse of science for
political or economical reasons should not lead to blame of the religion.
Or are you willing to admit that christianity lead to the the death of
thousands in for instance the Spanish Inquisition or the many religious
wars ? Is religion to blame for this ? Or the interpretation of some of a
religion to further their own ideas ?

Jim: Again, I agree with you, UNLESS it is a philosophical materialist who
makes
the extrapolation. If we are all purposeless atoms, there can be no
objective
standard of morality.

Interesting assertion but there is no relationship between purpose and
morality.

Jim: Let me ask you a simple question. Without using any theistic
presupposition, can you explain to me why Hitler was evil?

Because his actions lead to the death of millions of innocent people. No
need to blame evolution for Hitler's actions.
