Thanks, Hulcys, for your concern and love. Yes, the newsletter was written
during the summer due to go out early fall. At that time although Charles was
very fatigued we were assuming an infection (mono) or something very treatable
and very temporary and certainly not affecting our fall plans. Things have
changed RAPIDLY. Charles has now lost almost 40 lbs. and is as weak as ever even
after removal of the tumor. He has no appetite. We are booking him into a health
care clinic for a megaboost to his system. Leukemia is ruled out. Bone marrow
biopsy is painful and the doctors feel he is not yet healed sufficiently from
surgery to face that. On Tuesday we have appointment with the best of
oncologists. All active ministry on Charles' part has come to a halt. He has
subs for classes and speaking engagements or is postponing until spring. I
continue to run the school and teach with great emotional exertion on my part,
but at least it keeps my mind extremely active with positive tasks. School is
going great On break this week. I just cancelled a seminar I was to lead in
Athens in four days. I hate doing that, but we feel it is important for me to be
here now.
As for C.J., please do call him and ask what he wants/needs. His birthday is
Nov. 6. Normally we send a big birthday box full of goodies, party supplies,
etc. This year NO. Would you like to do something for his birthday? We would
really appreciate something for his 21st birthday. It's such an accomplishment.
By the way, he's getting all A's in his courses (you know, differential
equations and things like that) and has a dedication toward wisdom that frankly
surprises me with his being in the midst of so many negative influences. He will
need your support, so thanks for suggesting.
Jason, check your messages. Had to decode your message to us, scrambled. More
later, love C.
