Actually, there has been much more searching for non-human animals by
paleontologists than there has been for man. There are more paleontologists
than there are anthropologists.

I do not believe that writing could survive such a catastrophe as the
destruction of everybody but 8 people. Who would you write to?. For what
purpose? You can personally talk to every person on the surface of the
earth. The medium must be clay or carved stone rather than papyrus or paper.
Paper and Papyrus would rot quickly in the rain. How many hunter-gatherers
do you know who carry around with them a ton of clay tablets written by their
ancestors?
