I'm gratified that Jim Foley is now arguing with Percy (whom he first cited)
and Jaynes. That relieves a little of the onus on me! I'll leave it to others
to decide who is right in that debate. (There were a few others he could
tackle as well--Langer, Cassirer, Peirce, Chomsky).

I do think you are still misinterpreting what was originally said. You quote
me as follows:

>> On this basis, one can correlate the beginning of man in the full
>> biblical sense with the evidence of a great cultural outburst about
>> 30,000 to 40,000 years ago.

The key word is "correlate." And as I explained to Loren, the cultural
outburst is "corroborative." Those are very specific terms, and if you focus
on them I think you'll see there is nothing vague about my view.

But there's no need to keep revisiting the past. My view has been clarified
over and over since. It's very simple: Modern man "exploded" onto the scene.
This is curious, especially since the cosmos exploded into existence, as did
the animal phyla. Why else do they call those "The Big Bang" and "The Cambrian
Explosion"?
