Dear Art,

Perhaps we both missed each other's points. I wanted merely to
point out that the ancestors of humans and chimpanzees evolved only
into other primates.
They evolved less, from morphological and genetic evidence, than did
the species of Hawiian Drosophila. Humans are more closely related
to chimpanzees than Drosophila heteroneura are to Drosophila melanogaster.
So if the evolutionary divergence of humans and chimpanzees is significant,
then much more so is the evolutionary divergence of Hawaiian Drosophila.
